Welcome back to coffee with Kim – Nutrition Clarity Series:

Q: It is really necessary to go vegan in order to get the benefits of being plant based?

It seems every year there is a new documentary that advocates for a plant based or vegan diet for general population health and environmental sustainability.

The problem however is that many women these days are struggling to even hit their basic nutrient requirements, and their brains are already filled with way too many “do’s” and “don’ts” when thanks to the diet industry. We’ve gone through the low carb error, the low fat error, the gluten free error. It seems every few years there is something else women are being advertised to eliminate. As a Nutritionist and Food Freedom Coach, I’m seeing this cause a tremendous amount of stress, confusion, restriction and overwhelm for health conscious women trying to make food choices. I’m also seeing it contribute to disordered eating and eating disorder patterns like the binge-restrict cycle.

In this episode I’m going to discuss the current arguments for and against vegan (plants only) vs omnivore diet (Plants, meat, fish, fairy, eggs), and what we need to consider when applying this argument to a women whose goal is to be able to nourish herself confidently whilst maintaining a healthy relationship with food.

I hope you find this helpful!

Kim x
